All films include:

Pre-Production

  • Fill out our contact sheet or leave a message on our answering machine.
  • Tell us what kind of film you want.
  • Tell us a good time to contact you.
  • We will call you and set up our first interview.

Production

  • Sue conducts the initial interview, being sure to note what stories you want to tell. We will discuss your film, and help you choose the stories, visuals, photos, and objects that you want featured.
  • Jesse will take still shots of objects and/or photos you want to talk about, check out lighting, note any unusual circumstances, and plan for how best to film your story.
  • At our second visit, we do the official interview, filming for about an hour. With set-up of equipment, you should plan for one and a half hours.
  • We use two cameras, to ensure high quality and multiple views.

Post-Production

  • We edit the raw footage to create a professional, seamless film.
  • We add titles, music, and credits.
  • All films are preserved on our Vimeo channel with a unique, link available only to you and those you choose to share it with.
  • We can also provide flash drives of the film to share or use as gifts.
  • Completed films usually run 20-25 minutes.
  • It takes about 6-8 weeks from our second meeting until the final film is ready.

Films We Make

Legacy Films

Anna Rose Weber

You can use old photos, objects in your home, awards you’ve received – anything! It’s up to you whether you want to talk about your entire life, one particularly important event or mix it up.

These films make a great group gift from adult children to their parents or grandparents. They are an ideal way to celebrate milestone birthdays too.

Before the Movers Come

Leaving Home

This is unique to Heirloom Family Films. Many older people live in a home for decades, and then need to move. Whether it is due to health issues, the desire to downsize or be closer to family, it’s hard to leave the place where you spent so many years of your life. We honor the life lived in that home, filming you, the home and including family history, photos and objects.

This makes a great keepsake, and a gift for adult children and grandchildren.

Faith Journeys

Universal Gesture of Prayer

Older members, who have lived the history of a church, mosque, synagogue, convent or monastery have stories to tell — stories that capture the growth, successes and challenges of their faith community. These films can be done by small groups or by individuals.

They are an excellent way to mark a community milestone — an anniversary, a move, or the dedication of a new building. They are also ideal for showcasing one individual’s faith journey.
